    Bensalem Township Waterfront Revitalization

    Delaware River Waterfront Revitalization

For two decades, the Mayor and Council have looked towards the Delaware River and seen it’s potential for Economic Development. Over those years, Bensalem Township participated in an array of studies involving the Riverfront. In April of 2014, the Mayor and Council partnered with the Bensalem Economic Development Corporation with the purpose to create a tool to develop it’s Riverfront.

To ensure success this tool must be:

    • Sensitive to its context
    • Responsive to Regional Needs.
    • Effective in securing the relevance of Bensalem Township for the future.

The study area was 675 acres between I-95 and the Delaware River and between Station Ave and Street Rd. It is primarily an industrial site with 25 acres of wetlands, 75 acres of floodplain, and 175 acres of fabrication facilities.

The plan included 7 core principles:

    • The region should retain its visual character derived from the natural infrastructure.
    • Green corridors defining and connecting urbanized areas.
    • The development is compact, pedestrian oriented, and mixed use.
    • That ordinary activities of daily living are within walking distance.
    • That appropriate densities and land use are within walking distance of transit stops.
    • That buildings and landscaping contribute to the physical definition of the community with a range of housing types and price levels for diverse ages and incomes.

  • Charity Golf Challenge

    Bensalem Charity Golf Challenge 2022

The Bensalem Economic Development Corp. hosted our annual Charity Golf Outing yesterday, June 1st, at the Bensalem Country Club. As always it was a huge success. The weather could not have been more perfect! Everyone who participated had a great time. Prizes were awarded, including Elton John tickets, High quality sound bar and many baskets of cheer. Already everyone is looking forward to next year’s event.

Lunch with hot dogs, hamburgers, and salads was provided. The evening meal was flounder, chicken marsala, roast potatoes and roast pork loin. The Caesar salad was amazing. Of course, there was an open bar.

Donations are expected to amount to approximately $50K. The Chairman of the EDC would like to thank all sponsors, players, and amazing volunteers.

Pictured in the golf cart below is Dave Fackler, owner of Asphalt Care. He greeted everyone at hole six which had a hole in one prize of $15K waiting for that golfer with the skill (or sheer luck) to accomplish that feat. One golfer came within 24 yards of a hole in one and that $15K prize. Maybe next year!
