Why Apprenticeships Should Matter to Employers
In Bucks County, many employers of all sizes are already using or considering using Registered Apprenticeship to build their workforce. Boasting a 90% retention rate of individuals who complete their training, Registered Apprenticeship can be the right choice for many employers. Apprenticeships provide a clear career pathway to upscaling and retaining current employees as well as attracting and training new talent to fill skills gap.
A number of factors have resulted in a workforce that is not fully equipped with the skills that employers seek. The reason is multifaceted and starts with the fact that fewer people are pursuing certain skill sets that are in high demand, especially in manufacturing and trades. In addition, while a large segment of skilled employees is retiring, people who are returning to the workforce, or those who are changing careers, may not possess the necessary skills for more customized positions. Rising costs of higher education may also be prohibitive for some to gain the needed skillsets on their own. The good news is, with Registered Apprenticeship, employers can train their existing employees as well as the people they want to hire.
Registered Apprenticeship is designed to provide customized intensive training for new and existing talent during a full-time job that helps individuals achieve mastery in positions. Programs are applicable for a multitude of industries, and they can be administered by an employer or a turnkey qualified training provider.
Strong Companies Build Strong Apprenticeship Programs
While apprenticeship programs provide clear benefits to employers, they offer great value to their employees, providing a transparent career pathway that leads to enhanced skills, credentialing in certain areas, and scheduled raises. Utilizing Registered Apprenticeship programs can also expand and diversify hiring options. For example, if a candidate lacks skills for a specific position, but exhibits an excellent work ethic, the apprenticeship program can provide the necessary training.
Ultimately Registered Apprenticeship supports the development of a skilled workforce, promotes loyalty and retention, and attracts job seekers. It’s a win-win solution that is an investment in people and leads to a stronger overall organization.
